Chuck Lorre's Vanity Cards

Have you heard of The Big Bang Theory? If you haven't yet, I don’t know what rock your hiding under, this show is terrific! It’s so brilliant I can’t stop laughing whenever I watch it. Anyways my post today is not to talk about the show itself but I want to direct your attention to one of the creators – Chuck Lorre. He, along with Bill Prady should be created statues for cooking this thing up. Chuck ( oh diba, first name basis!) inserts his brilliance and sometimes epiphanies after the show in the form of a Vanity Card after every episode.  It flashes really quickly and I didn’t notice it until it was pointed out to me. This tradition had started in his prior show, Dharma & Greg.

Here’s three of this famed Vanity Cards. As you can see from the numbers, these are from successive episodes. I especially like #386.

In dire need of a Dire Wolf

When The Game of Thrones was released last year, my officemates(who were mostly boys) raved about hunger games and my close friend Jecyl who is a very huge fan, urged me to watch it and fed me with a full copy of season one. Another friend of mine, Mike, supplied me with audio books. I tried, I really did try; but it's just so graphic, so dirty, so barbaric. I tried again because of the very good feedback from my friends but I really cant take it. My brother from 3000 zipcodes away chanced upon my copy of the series and is already well addicted to the story and is one of the millions waiting for season 3. One day I ran out of audio books. My imagination and my thirst for adventure and stories is starving, no dying, its dying in starvation! Then I remembered that I have the copy of Game of Thrones! I hesitated because of the experience with the series but out of desperation, I relented and started listening to it. Anyhow, I am already somewhere in the Kings landing, Winterfell and the high road and I am now engrossed with the Starks and the Lanisters and the Tulleys and Dani! The story is amazing! Ahhhh-maaa-zing! I am planning on buying the books and will attempt to watch the seasons again. Oh by the way, I'd want a dire wolf too or for Derp, now officially my dog, to be as discipled as the dire wolves of the Starks.

I am adopted by the Modern Family

I just recently started watching Modern family, a TV series from CBS. It’s the story about three families with a not so typical setup. The Dad Jay divorced the Mom Dede and married hot latina Gloria, which is half his age, who has a son, the man-kid Manny. The Kids- Clair has the “Normal” family, husband, 3 kids and the works; Mitchell, with partner Cameron has an adopted Vietnamese daughter named Lily. This family is very different from what I normally see on TV. I love all of them and I now feel like I am part of their household. I love Gloria, hot, not intellectual but street-smart, feisty but sweet, loves her husband's kids and grandkids, but still get into fights with them. For me it’s the perfect combination. I am loving every episode so far.
